Using GEMS (Great Explorations in Math and Science) Guides to Enrich Your Math and Science Curriculums
Participants will investigate how to integrate math and science concepts into a collaborative problem solving environment.
Goal: Explore ways to facilitate investigative science and problem solving math into a collaborative learning experience to improve student achievement.
Training Objectives include: Overview, background information, preparation steps, and clear, step-by-step instructions for effective classroom instruction. Experience how GEMS guides (aligned to the AZ State Standards) can enrich your math and science curriculum.
Un-Wrapping the Arizona Science Standard – Investigating the Articulated Arizona Science Standard- What K-8 Teachers Need to Know and be able to do.
Participants review how to use the articulated Arizona State Science Standard as a planning tool for both horizontal and vertical curriculum building.
Goal: Explore ways to facilitate science curriculum alignment into a collaborative learning experience to improve student achievement.
Training Objectives include: Overview of AZ Science Standard and Concept mapping by grade level.
Science Olympiad Teacher Training
This workshop is for Teachers grades 3-8 who are interested in using Science Olympiad. There will be two levels of training. The first will be for grades 3-6. It will feature demonstration of events from the Pinal Elementary Science Olympiad Sponsors PESOS.
The second level will be for grades 5-9. It will feature demonstration of events from the Pinal Middle School Science Olympiad Coaches. Each participant will receive a Coaches packet, featuring all of the events.
Family Science
Creative, hands-on science activities for parents and children of all ages to enjoy together as they tinker, test ideas and talk about science. Share FAMILY SCIENCE with others and learn about important science processes, concepts, themes and topics. And if you want to set up FAMILY SCIENCE events in your own community, there’s help and advice for that too. Science is everywhere and it’s for everybody’s family
